What to understand
Cribbing supports a raised home during construction. The permanent foundation has a different role: carrying the finished structure under the loads and conditions addressed by the engineered design. Temporary supports, steel beams and the transfer to permanent support all belong in a coordinated plan. A photograph of a house on cribbing shows one stage of the project, not its finished foundation.
What to ask about your property
What is the existing condition? What further investigation is needed? Which parts of the proposed work depend on engineering, site access or local approval? Bring these questions to the project review.
